For the first time since well before the pandemic hit, according to CBRE’s Monthly Valuation Index, retail capital values in May rose on average by 0.1%.
Growth was driven entirely by retail warehouses which have seen investment upticks, as investors take the view that shoppers will continue to drive to out of town destinations for click and collect and retail warehouses are easily repurposed as logistic distribution centres.
Whilst 0.1% is a very small number, it’s the first increase since December 2017 and it’s a rise.
